The nine-time Grammy Award winner Rihanna made a much-anticipated return during the Super Bowl 57 halftime show earlier this year.
It was reported in February that ahead of the event, Rihanna spent more than half a million dollars on a five-bedroom Arizona rental pad for her stay.
According to TMZ, “Rihanna rented 6,434 square feet home in Paradise Valley which boasts two living rooms, a private gym, and an office.
The luxurious establishment was located at a distance of 30km from the State Farm Stadium.
“The mansion goes for a cool $85,000 (£70,000)/a night fee, meaning her 6-day stint added up to around $510K,” wrote Daily Mail.
“A huge pool with a built-in waterfall, a pickle ball court and a bar area is also said to sit outside the pad.”
It is also to be noted that the pop icon didn’t receive a single penny for her performance at the Super Bowl.
Now, the house the superstar singer stayed at for almost a week belonged to a 48-year-old cybersecurity expert in Arizona, Spyro Malaspinas.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Spyro wasn’t looking to rent out his home and was even reluctant when Rihanna’s team first approached him.
“He initially balked at the idea of leasing his 6400-square-foot five-bedroom house on about an acre of land in Paradise Valley, an affluent town between Phoenix and Scottsdale,” per WSJ.
“Then a property management firm he hired to manage a smaller investment property he owns called and offered Mr. Malaspinas a number that sent him packing.”
Although he didn’t know he was renting out his property to the famous pop star for her stay for the upcoming Super Bowl week at the time, Spyro agreed to move out of his house for a whopping 500,000K a week.
Mr. Malaspinas, who thought the amount was more than enough to cover his mortgage payment for the next two years, later learned that his tenant was none other than the Barbadian singer and owner of Fenty Beauty, Rihanna.
“The last thing I am is a real estate baron. My pride’s not that big. I don’t mind moving out for $500,000 a week,” he told the outlet.
“My [13-year-old] daughter was absolutely thrilled,” he added.
According to Spyro, he still hasn’t moved back into his house since the Super Bowl and has been offered ‘crazy amount of money’ to sell his property.
