Jennifer Lawrence addressed affair rumors with Liam Hemsworth while he was still married to Miley Cyrus and said they are ‘NOT TRUE.’
During a recent interview with Andy Cohen, the Hunger Games star, 32, said that she and Liam did not have a proper affair and the public speculations are definitely not true.
“Total rumor. We all know we only kissed once, and it was years after they broke up, so I just assumed that was a coincidence,” she told Cohen on his show, Watch What Happens Live.
The rumors emerged after Cyrus, 30, released her music video for her new single, Flowers, which fans think contains a swipe toward Lawrence.
“There was a lot of talk that the music video was referencing a secret fling that you had with Liam Hemsworth while he was with Miley Cyrus,” Cohen asked the actress. “Can you please respond to this?”
In response, Jennifer slammed the rumors and said she and Liam only kissed once, years after he and Miley called it quits.
“Liam and I grew up together. Liam’s real hot. What would you have done?” she said laughing.
The No Hard Feelings star added that when she sees some rumor about her circulating on the internet, sometimes she becomes tempted to send out a tweet and address it saying she doesn’t own an account on Twitter or Instagram.
“If five people at a party think you slept with somebody’s boyfriend it’s really upsetting,” she told Cohen. “And then you multiply it by, I’m not good at the math, eight billion.”
In a previous appearance on Watch What Happens Live in 2015, Lawrence admitted that she and Hemsworth shared an off-screen kiss but didn’t say anything about when it happened.
“What would you have done?” she asked Andy at that time after confessing that she kissed Liam that ‘one time.’
“I would say yes,” Andy responded. “I mean, I’d have picked Gale over Peeta any day.”
“I did, at one point,” said Jennifer.
Although Miley never called out Lawrence publicly, fans speculated that she was secretly throwing shade at the Red Sparrow actress in her new hit song, Flowers.
“The Flowers video, released on Liam’s birthday, showed Miley strutting around the Hollywood Hills in a slinky gold dress from Saint Laurent’s autumn/winter 1991 collection,” wrote Daily Mail.
“Eagle-eyed fans pointed out her dress resembled the gold Prabal Gurung gown worn by Jennifer when she attended The Hunger Games premiere with Liam in Los Angeles on March 12, 2012.”
Liam and Miley tied the knot in December 2018 and stayed together for only a few months before parting ways in August 2019. Their divorce was settled in December 2019 and was finalized in February 2020.
Before getting married, the former couple dated on and off between 2012 and 2017. They even got engaged twice – first, in 2012, the engagement broke off. Later they re-engaged in 2016 before Liam popped the big question and asked Cyrus to marry him.
